Austrian Levant Post in Bulgaria
This manual is a revised and supplemented English version of the German original (Fifth edition Nov. 2017), covering the Austrian Levant Post on the territory of Bulgaria in its presentday borders including the consular post offices, the post offices of the Austrian Lloyd with maritime and ship postmarks, as well as the DDSG.
Literature research on the Austrian post office in Bulgaria was carried out mainly in the State Library of Sofia and the Philatelic Library Munich in the years 2004 to 2007.
In the preparation of this manual, special emphasis was placed on the compilation of all known postmarks and on their assessment. For this purpose, the author has evaluated his own material and catalogues from European auctions of the last 25 years. The Swiss auction houses Feldman and Corinphila proved to be especially helpful with their extensive offers and professional descriptions.
